Event Coordinator
Joy Beyond Vision Community (JBVC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering visually impaired people (VIP). We strive to build a supportive community that enhances individual capabilities and nurtures faith. Our mission is to help VIPs live lives full of dignity, purpose, and connection.
We are currently hiring an Event Coordinator through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) 2025 program to assist in planning and delivering inclusive programs for our community.
Terms and Conditions:
- Salary: 18/per hour (4% vacation pay inclusive in)
- Duration: 9 weeks, duration between June 1, 2025 to August 30, 2025
- Work Hours: 30 hours per week
- Work Location: Hybrid *
* Primarily work-from-home, with program delivery in Markham and Scarborough areas.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and Coordinate Events – Assist JBVC staff in designing and organizing inclusive events for visually impaired clients, both online and in-person programs.
- Manage Budgets – Support the development and monitoring of event budgets to ensure expenses remain within allocated funds.
- Coordinate Logistics – Help book venues, liaise with vendors, and manage event schedules and timelines.
- Promote Events – Assist in creating and distributing promotional materials via social media, email, and print.
- Support Event Execution – Help supervise event setup, manage technical requirements, and assist with on-site activities.
- Evaluate and Report – Collect feedback, contribute to post-event reports, and support continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of employment (as per CSJ funding requirements)
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (International students are not eligible)
- Legally entitled to work in Ontario
- Align with JBVC’s mission and values
- Willing and able to work flexible hours as needed
- Must be able to commit to the full 9 weeks contract duration
- Proficient in written and spoken English; ability to communicate in a second language, especially Cantonese is a strong asset
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Able to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of team
- Competence with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and basic data entry
- Comfortable using communication apps, such as WhatsApp and Gmail
